Product Description
From legendary Olympic gold medalist Dara Torres comes a motivational, inspirational memoir about staying fit, aging gracefully, and pursuing your dreams.
Dara Torres captured the hearts and minds of Americans of all ages when she launched her Olympic comeback as a new mother at the age of forty-one—years after she had retired from competitive swimming and eight years since her last Olympics. When she took three silver medals in Beijing—including a heartbreaking .01-second finish behind the gold medalist in the women’s 50-meter freestyle—America loved her all the more for her astonishing achievement and her good-natured acceptance of the results.
Now, in Age Is Just a Number, Dara reveals … More >> Age Is Just a Number: Achieve Your Dreams at Any Stage in Your Life

If you swim you may find some inspiration here. If you are just growing older like most, than your age is just your number and what Dara does doesn’t matter. Rating: 1 / 5
Dara is an incredible bizarre woman completely focused on herself. Compared with another athlete, Monica Seles, Dara’s personality and gifts are fulsome. Dara’s mother who was a fashion model obviously inspired Dara to do that too in her non swimming time. Dara knew from the git go how to care for her looks. Dara loves to exercise and work out and she knew how to find competent support staff. She had 3 husbands so she knew how to reach out for love. Dara knows how to live a full life. Although her mothering qualities seem paltry, at least she fought to have a baby. Just read Monica Seles’ book and you will respect Dara even more. Both of their fathers died at peak times in their lives. Monica got stabbed but Dara sort of got stabbed by age yet she persevered and Monica loafed around eating Twinkies. She was unable to help herself. I don’t think Dara ever ate a Twinkie. Dara does give lots of swimming details that I liked. She is quite a woman especially compared to another world class athlete like Monica Seles. Funny thing both Dara and Monica had severe eating problems at times in their lives. Dara was bulimic in her college years. Rating: 4 / 5
If you want to know about Dara Torres, read this book. This book is not for you if you want some direction on how to achieve you dreams at any statge. Disappointing. Rating: 2 / 5
I was appalled by this book. Torres comes across as a completely selfish, egocentric person. She lost me when she said she chose to ignore the advice of her doctor while she was pregnant. As a nurse and a mother I cannot believe how a woman could risk the health, and possibly life, of her unborn child just to get into shape to win a race! Shame! Rating: 1 / 5
Dara Torres inspired me with her performance and Spirit last summer in the Olympics.
This book takes you beyond the visible and into just who Dara is, where she came from (her life experiences) and how she came to realize (just as I realize) that age is purely a number.
She operates also with the power of the “secret”….the mind and manifests her desires
